What makeup primer do you suggest for oily prone skin
September 22, 2011 by odeliza | No Comments | Filed in Makeup TutorialsQuestions:
This is a great segment! I have noticed that as I age, my skin has undergone changes. I have become more oily than usual and I have been investing in skin products that are supposed to minimize this. However, when I wear make-up, I still need a primer.
I would like to ask what make-up primer you can suggest for me. Aside from being oily, I also live in a tropical country so I constantly have to battle? with the heat and humidity.

@maricarljanah Thanks, one good thing I’ve found with client’s that have oily skin as they age is, less fine lines and wrinkles. So, that? is something beneficial at least. I truly believe that anyone that wants their makeup to last longer than a hour, should consider using a good quality primer. That does not necessarily mean, a high end brand, there are primers out there that are not marketed at a higher price point that works well for almost all skin types. I think Smashbox Cosmetics have

@maricarljanah part 2. Have high quality primers. They came out with a lighter version of their original primer that I think works well for everyone including sensitive skin. Elizabeth Arden has a primer named ‘Good Morning Primer’, that works well for oily skin. Rimmel London has a fabulous primer for almost all skin types, a benefit for oily skin the most, I think. If you have oily areas only on your T-zone, then those are areas you should concentrate on a second film? of primer, makeup base,

@maricarljanah part 3, makeup base(optional), and a light mineral powder. Through out the day, take a half of a tissue ply and lightly blot your T-Zone area, then powder if desired. If you are producing oil all over your face, then this? may be a condition that may require a Dermatologist. If only on your T-zone then those steps may help. I would like to discuss this more throughly via video response, if that is okay. Sometime within the week. Hope that helps! Beso

How to prevent dehydration, breaks outs and more on the plane
June 16, 2011 by odeliza | No Comments | Filed in Beauty TipsOi Gentes!
Here are some tips on how to prevent dehydration, break outs, and more on a plane
Step One
Thoroughly cleanses, tone, and moisturize your skin before you go to the airport.
Step Two
Apply eye cream on your under eyes as well as on your lids all the way up to your brow bone.
Step Three
Follow up with a good makeup base. Allow the makeup base to sit on your cleanse skin for at least 5-10 minutes.
I know this seems to be a long wait time, but I assure you, if you let your primer / makeup base sit on your skin it will act like a protection shield against all the stale air in the plane. I like to use Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer in Light as well as their Sheer Focus Tinted moisturizer in Luminous, the latter as a moisturize the former as my actual makeup base / primer.
Optional Step
Follow up with you everyday makeup routine.
Bonus Tip!
Here’s a little Do’s and Don’ts while on the plane
Do:
Hydrate, by drinking water and by limiting the amount of caffeine intake, while on the plane.
Stay away from any alcoholic beverages or food that has too much salt by toting around a zone bar, nuts, dried fruit, or healthy baked chips in your carry on bag or purse.
Sanitize your hands by washing them and or using an antibacterial instant hand sanitizer every time you use the rest room and open the over head compartments.
By dabbing a bit of hand sanitizer on a paper towel or tissue and using it to wipe down your cell phones, head phones and travel pillows will give you extra protection against circulated air line germs. YUCK!
Idle air time could be a great time to catch some extra sleep, so try to rest your eyes as much as possible.
Don’ts
Do not ever touch your face. Never! Even if you sanitized your hands. In reality, your finger nails still trap germs, dirt, and other nasty things. So, please do not ever touch your face. If you must itch your face for any reason, use a clean tissue.
Some people think that by slathering on more moisturizer on their face will help prevent dehydration, but the reality is, your face should be thoroughly cleansed prior to applying a moisturizer. And using a facial wipe or makeup wipe remover is not going to thoroughly remove all dirt build up , oil, makeup, and other germ-things that sit on your face from the circulated air in the airplane. This is why I suggest the first step.
Others think that by using a one time use disposable mask will help cleanse, tone, hydrate, tighten, etc. etc. the skin. I’ll elaborate further on one time masks in a future post, but for now I suggest that you do not do this. You must cleanse your face thoroughly prior to applying a mask that will sit on your face any where between 5-20 minutes. If you did not cleanse your face thoroughly, the mask on your face is just trapping all the dirt build up and more. I will discuss on another post on what type of masks may work best for different skin types while traveling.
Have you seen the rest ‘rooms’ on a plane? Does it indicate to you that the area around it has been cleaned and sanitized during your flight time? Maybe it has been wiped down prior to board time, but to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized is a bit questionable if you ask me. Also, please don’t think that business class and first class bathrooms are different. It is the same. The only differences I’ve found are two things, one there is a hand moisturizer and hand wash in the private cabin bath room and two, the flight attendants are so much nicer. That’s it. I digress, if you think bringing on board a facial wash, toner, and moisturizer to use during flight time in the bath room will help you, I truly beg to differ.
Using bottled water with a muslin cloth along with your facial wash while sitting on your seat, is questionable and highly unsanitary.
Hope this post helps!
Boa viagem!

@tokyodoru Hi! Thanks for being my first question person friend
Okay, well, I have issues with areas in my face that are prone to dryness and flakey as well! First thing you’ve got right is prevention and not ‘cure’ Second thing is your natural water / fluid intake, what I mean by that is eating foods that contain a lot of water such as, asian pears, celery, watermelons, as well as drinking water with lemon, I drink about one to two 16 oz a day. Try to minimize your caffeine intake
@tokyodoru 2nd Part… I’ve found that coffee can really dry out my skin, so I’ve slowed down the cups of espresso I drink a day. Whilst skin care, in my? opinion, is really important to taking care and preventing pre-maturing aging, what you eat, drink, and how much sleep you get reflects out wards. So try to get a good amount of sleep. And try to have a healthy eating regime. For skin care products, what I’ve found really helped my dry areas was a natural treatment oil for dehydrated skin.
@tokyodoru 3rd? part Clarins has always served me well. I purchased their treatment oil for dehydrated skin for me, it totally works! I apply it after I cleanse and before my primer or tinted moisturizer
Hope that helps, please let me know how its working for you and if you have any doubts or other questions you could always email me here or you’ve got my email address
