Odeliza and Latino Oriente Restaurant

by odeliza | 11th November 2007

hola chicos,

sorry for my lack of posting. i have been soul searching and traveling around south america these past weeks, can be my only excuse.

as i mentioned in my previous posts, for the first few months of 2006 my other half and i ate out every week. so these posts about restaurants are mainly about past experiences.

Latino Oriente located on Manuel Pagola 3233, tel.: 706-87-88. Features a mix of “asian style” dishes.

the restaurant’s ambiance is a bit of south asian flare, dim lighting, and small eating spaces. i’d say it has an almost sheek look if one were to purchase the decor at K-mart.

it was pretty busy when we ate there, but we were seated right away. it took a while for a waiter to attend to us, but i think its just how they work here in south america.

i ordered a paella with out the meat and my other half ordered some stir fry veggie dish. the paella was really salty (i have a low-sodium regiment, for health reasons) and tasted old. i had to pick the meat out, only assuming that it was a pre-made dish in the morning with meat and lost of salt. my other half’s stir fry dish tasted like it needed something. we could not figure it out. then i said it needed to have some “asian flavor”.

just cause a dish is happily dubbed “stir fry” or “asian stir fry” does not automatically make it of “asian flavor”. More so, stir fry is just a style of preparing a dish such as blanching, broiling, grilling, and the like.

but for patriots of Latino Oriente its enough.

ciao

O
