Las Cumbres’s Koi Pond

Oi!
It was a nice change to see a real koi pond in Uruguay. The fish were beautiful and well taken care of.

The pond’s located at the front entrance.

My favorite fish was the white one.

Las Cumbres
Oi!
Our stay at Las Cumbres resort was relaxing and very much needed TLC. Per night cost about 300 USD not including meals. Its an exclusive hotel that caters to a specific clientele. The owners are from Serbia and are really accommodating. The hotel staff are Uruguayans and speak English very well.
This is the front entrance of Las Cumbres Resort. The sun was shinning that day which was awesome, but hard to take this picture.

Here is the front entrance area. I thought that this door was really cool. It was used more for decoration purposes. Which was a great idea.

A small pond at the front entrance.

Midori gets a bath

Ola!
Tudo Bem? Midori our golden labrador gets a complete grooming at least once every other month. It’s not good to wash a labrador. One removes its natural oils that protect the dog from water activities. So the vet tells me…

Here is picture of Midori’s dog groomer. Fortunately, I don’t have to go to the vet’s I could just make a phone call and they’d come over to where ever I am.

Midori was not so happy about it. But she behaved well. Afterwards she smelled like roses and gummy bears. Then she romped around with a stray dog and got dirty. Oh well! At least she was shiny and clean for about 10 minutes.

Blvar. Artigas

Oi!
Tudo Bem? Our first home was located at Artigas, which is a main street in Montevideo, Uruguay. Often times we’d take walks to the rambla -board walk- and parque Rodo. Ever since we adopted Midori -our golden labrador- we’ve troted more often. Now, we live by the beach.

But I still like to reminisce about our earlier days at Artigas. Here are some snap shots of the main street that is closer to the Punta Carretas side.

Ola,
Here are some shots of my puppy Midori at the beach during winter time. She loves to catch a bottle and swim as far out as possible.

Segunda Fiera

Oi!
Its inverno en Uruguay and I must admit the climate is not so bad, a bit tough on my asthma, but other than that, its okay.

Of course I am comparing this to the past two winters in Uruguay. A lot of locals are agreeing with me.

Here are some snap shots of Montevideo Uruguay.

Our Front Porch

Oi!
I like the fact that we live right next to the beach. Granted, the beach is not for swimming, just for sun bathing and our dog Midori’s play tub, but its really nice.
We try to take advantage of the nice weather when its available in Uruguay. From May through November its bitter cold and yuck!
But when the weather is just awesome we go out no matter what! Even if it is just to hang out at our beach which we happily dubbed Midori Beach.

Alfons Mucha, find in Montevideo, Uruguay

Mahalo Chico,
Last year, while on one of my antiquing trips, I came across a stack of art prints wrapped in plastic. I took a few glances at the art and immediately took all six and bought them. At the time, I had no idea what I bought, but the prints just spoke to me as they say.
Looking at them I felt like I was in a fairy land filled with beautiful people. I kept these prints in their plastic wraps tucked away in my closet. Since we’re in the process of moving, I had forgotten all about them.
Again, I glanced at the prints and immediately fell in love with each one. So, I did a bit of investigating on the net, to find out who made these prints and what type of style is it.
Alphonse Mucha was a Czech art nouveau painter and decorative artist. I had not realized that the prints I had were by this artists. Of course they are mere reprints, a bit older reprints, but still I loved them anyway.
Now I am a fan for life.

January in Montevideo, Uruguay
Feliz Anos,
January in Montevideo, Uruguay is vacation time for the locals and big tourist season for Sur de America. Most tourist we see trotting down the rambla or asking for directions are from Brasil and Argentina. There are a few squirts of North Americans and some Europeans as well. Not that many Asian and so far I have not seen any pacific islanders.
People gather towards the more salt water areas, Punta del Este is a beachy town that is very popular. Of course if you’re a local, places such as Punta Gorda, Punta Diablo, and Piriaplois is the spot to be at.
We’re in the process of relocating, so that is top of our lists right now, but possibly in February -when its more quiet and less banana hammocks- we’re going to head out and get our beach on.

Futbol in Montevideo, Uruguay
Mahalo Chicos,
My other half loves futbol, he even played in college, so when the opportunity arises that he can watch a live futbol game he takes it. Sometimes it does not even matter who’s playing against who.
He likes to bring me along though, honestly I am not into futbol as much as he is I can’t help but get excited about it.
Instead of hot dogs and soda being sold there is black coffee and fried bread -that taste terrible but the way-, but people still buy it. Then there are the guys that sell soda and nuts.
Occasionally one sits near or right next to a guy or gal smoking a cigar - and most people don’t say anything about it.
This game we watched I had no idea who the visiting team was, but I still cheered.
Ciao.
Odeliza
