<p>Myself along with my other half, and our New York friends took a short drive to Old Town for dinner and to appreciate the sights. Its was pleasant. There were&#8217;nt as many tourist at the time. So If you&#8217;d like to visit Old Town, my suggestion would be from October-March. December and January having the heaviest in tourist traffic.</p>

<p>Ola,</p>
<p>Here are some more snap shots of our friends&#8217; campo located at Colonia in Uruguay. Their campo is very secluded and takes a trip to get to, but the peace and quiet was worth it. Even though we live in Montevideo, which is the capital of Uruguay and the main dwelling of most people, with the exception of construction noise its not that busy. But having stayed a weekend at their place, well now I know what quiet really is.</p>

<p><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonia_del_Sacramento" title="Wiki infor on Colonia">Here is a history and description of Colonia</a>, it would be our second time visiting this historic site and this time I was determined to capture as much photos to share with my readers as possible. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-499.jpg" title="south-america-499.jpg"><img src="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-499.jpg" alt="south-america-499.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>From the end of November to January Colonia is filled with tourist ranging from South America, North America, and a few Europian countries. So far we&#8217;ve found that the tourist are mostly Argentinians and some Brazilians with a few dashes of North Americans. A long way to travel from Asia and South Asia, but I am hopeful one day will come.</p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-499.jpg" title="south-america-499.jpg"></a><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-502.jpg" title="south-america-502.jpg"><img src="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-502.jpg" alt="south-america-502.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>Anyways, Colonia is a tourist town for those months I mentioned, for the rest of the months it is slow and quiet. There are a great many Expats that live in Colonia or around Colonia. Most of the ages-of the expats are late thirty&#8217;s and up.</p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-499.jpg" title="south-america-499.jpg"></a><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-502.jpg" title="south-america-502.jpg"></a><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-500.jpg" title="south-america-500.jpg"><img src="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-500.jpg" alt="south-america-500.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>There is a small handful of restaurants that offer anywhere from local dishes to French crepes. What attracts tourists to Colonia would be the historic homes, brick laid streets, remains of defense buildings, and bridges. There are no beaches, but plenty of surrounding river, I have not seen anyone actually swimming or wadding in the river but I am sure its possible. There are plenty of sail boats though, so I imagine its a nice place for boating.</p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-501.jpg" title="south-america-501.jpg"><img src="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-501.jpg" alt="south-america-501.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>Colonia is not a place for young people to drink and party the night away, or rather it is not just a place for that. There are much more matured tourists that co mingle with the youth and party just as well. Its not a like Central American get away for people with money, its a place for anyone.</p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-508.jpg" title="south-america-508.jpg"><img src="http://www.odeliza.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/south-america-508.jpg" alt="south-america-508.jpg" /></a></p>
