Odeliza Life of a US Expat in South America

Midori at One Year in Uruguay

Posted in Odeliza's Personal Journal by odeliza on the October 23rd, 2008

Mahalo Chicos,

I realize it has been quite a while since I have written in any of my sites, I suppose the only excuse I’d have is laziness.

But today, I surprised myself and Midori -our golden labrador- for a nice trot to the rambla - beach-. I half expected it to be full of people since the weather looked decent, but the rambla was pretty much empty.

So, I let Midori loose and she ran to the water and made her our tracks on the sand. As I got closer to the water I notice how, well, to put in plain and simple filthy the beach is. Garbage everywhere and dead things lying about waiting to be eaten by dogs and birds.

Aside from the filth it was a nice walk. Midori is a year and some month old now so it was nice to have her ‘calm’ down a bit and walk beside me.

The beach we frequent is located in Punta Caretas barrio right across the street from Parque Rodo.

Ciao,

Where Can One Go if Your Computer is Trashed in Uruguay?

Posted in Odeliza's Personal Journal by odeliza on the October 3rd, 2008

Mahalo Chicos,

My laptop had major software and hardware problem these past couple of weeks, so I was unable to write on my sites. Though I could find an Internet cafe somewhere I just got depressed about it.

But things turned around when I stumbled upon a new place on one of the main streets off of 21 September. They have people that will fix your problem with good quality service for a reasonable price.

I don’t have the name of the place, but there is a big sign that says they’ll fix your computer in English and Spanish.

Ciao,
