2008 Olympics in China
Mahalo Chicos,
As some of you who are in touch with the world outside your own, the August 8, 2008 will mark the beginning of the Olympics held in China.
It will be a glorious time for China, both economically and ethically. I hope that China will introduce Tibet as a country that stands on its own. This I pray for each and every waking moment of my life.
Tibet will be at the back end of the Chinese Olympics, and I hope that those that are visiting and watching the our glorious Olympics would not miss the tragedies in Tibet today.
So, when it comes to August 8, 2008 take a deeper look at China and may good wish be cast upon Tibet.

You Know You’re a Local When Some Asks…
Mahalo Chicos,
You know you’re a local when a taxi driver and delivery guys don’t even know where you live. For the most part allot of Uruguayans have no clue where our street is located. I guess we’re ‘tucked’ away from the ‘busy’ main street -Blvar. Artigas-. I have the least bit of knowledge when it comes to giving directions, but one thing I do well is capture land marks how ever minimal they’d be.
So, in these cases, I have yet to get lost in Uruguay -knock on wood-. People say Uruguay is a rather ’tiny’ country, but I say one can get lost in even the most smallest island.

Out Side My Dressing Room Window in Uruguay
Mahalo Chicos,
Thanks to my other half I have my own dressing room/office. I have this reasonable sized room with a rather large window-great for natural light-. As I stare at the roof tops of our neighbor’s homes, I wonder how long does it take to finish a load of laundry? And on top of that what happens when the weather just sucks and you can’t hang your clothes out side to dry?
Granted, we were not completely elusive to this ‘old school’ way of doing laundry. Our first year here was a ‘year of discovery’. And we discovered that though it can have a romantic allure to a sun dried shirt and breeze fresh scented sheets, it sucked. Especially when the weather sucked.
So thanks to my loving other half I have been living in luxury. For this year-2008- we purchased an awesome laundry set that does the job with great results.
I can remember the time I studied in South Asia, said luxury was not affordable even for the wealthy so one had to hand wash all articles of clothing the really ‘old fashioned’ way, with a shallow bucket, stones and soap. Wow huh? Yeah I did that, surprised?
So, I would recommend that anyone that is planning on relocating to the beautiful country of Uruguay, I would suggest that one of your first purchases be a very good quality laundry set. Trust me.

Update on Winter Weather in Uruguay and Midori
Mahalo Chicos,
Last week was awesome! The temperature was breezy with the sun shinning all week. I expected -as others did- that the weather was to turn last Thursday, but Mother Nature decided to pay us back for at least a week from the hellish weather she put us through last winter.
Now, Mother Nature decided that she was bored of the happy people and wanted to devastate us with cold, rain, and wind. Such a testy bitch isn’t she?
Anyways, Midori our yellow Labrador is now 10 months and my other half does not seem to think she will grow any longer. I believe she was the ‘runt’ of the litter so that speaks for its self.
She is lovely, the more and more she grows with us the more and more my other half and I love her. It is really interesting to watch the stages she goes through. One minute she is calm and collected the next minute she drives me bonkers. Other than that, she is perfect.
I have not had any incline for our beach trots this winter -duh- cause its a bit nippy for my island butt. I am glad that she has her dog walker three times a week so she can get some of that ‘cabin fever’ released.
This winter was not as bad at all compared to 2007 ’s winter and I am glad. Slowly Uruguay is growing on me more as a home than as a ‘temp’ home. To settle here, I am not sure, both my other half and I are nomads to the core so, we will see what happens next.
Till next update.

Sureno 925
Mahalo Chicos,
It’s been a while since I’ve checked in. I have been preoccupied with several projects and that’s basically it.
Earlier posts I had on Sureno 925 I did not mention a few things; like how amazingly sincere and kind the owners are. Their customer service level is beyond that of any competitors’ if any of theirs’ in Uruguay.
And I would not buy anything unless it was the real deal. I hate fake stuff its just blowing smoke and mirrors to what one really is. So I checked them out pretty thoroughly and I promise you that all their stones and even their pearls are real and from real sources; Central America and the some Asian countries that I’ve visited and shopped myself.
The sales girls are up beat and friendly. They know me by first name and how I like things done. Once one becomes a ‘loyal’ customer they never forget you. Even every year in June they have a 40% off special for the whole month. This is the time that the smarter customers come out and buy everything. I of course came into the game a little late. But the 40% off is just taking the IVA off (taxes of IVA are 22%) and the markup, if even.
I highly recommend them, if something breaks and you have their 6 months card gurauntee in tote you won’t have any problem.
